Episode 1 | The workplace reality of menopause

More women are in the workforce than ever before, many of them in their 40s and 50s, at the height of their experience and responsibility. Menopause is part of that story, and it is only now getting proper attention.

In this first episode of Menopause and Work Conversations, Prof Petra Stute, EMAS President, speaks with Prof Andrea Rumler and Dr Angela De Rosa about what menopause actually looks like at work. What it means to chair a meeting after a sleepless night, or manage a deadline through brain fog. They also discuss why hormonal change matters well beyond hot flushes, reaching into cardiovascular health, metabolic health, and healthy ageing, and why so little research exists on what workplace support actually works.

The series builds on EMAS’s long-standing work in this area, including the first global recommendations on menopause in the workplace, published in 2016 and updated in 2021 under Prof Margaret Rees.

Menopause and Work Conversations is a series from the EMAS Menopause in the Workplace Working Group.
