The European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS) is proud to welcome the World Association of Trainees in Obstetrics & Gynecology (WATOG) as an official affiliate society.
WATOG represents the first global network of early-career obstetricians and gynecologists, founded in 2012 under the auspices of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO). Since its inception, WATOG has built a dynamic, international community of young OB/GYN professionals dedicated to clinical excellence, advocacy, and collaboration across borders.
With over a decade of activity and support from major senior societies—including ACOG, SOGC, EEBCOC, COGA, FOGSI, and FLASOG—WATOG now brings together trainee representatives from more than 70 countries. Its mission strongly aligns with EMAS’s commitment to promoting health during midlife and beyond through research, education, and policy engagement.
A Shared Vision for the Future of Women’s Health
By affiliating with EMAS, WATOG underscores the importance of early-career engagement in lifelong women’s health, especially during midlife and the postreproductive years. This partnership opens new pathways for knowledge exchange, mentorship, and professional development between established experts and the next generation of OB/GYNs.
As part of this new relationship, WATOG members are now eligible to join EMAS at a special discounted rate.
Shaping the Future of Midlife and Postreproductive Care
This collaboration reinforces EMAS’s commitment to building an inclusive, global, and forward-looking community. By supporting young professionals, EMAS invests in the future of menopause and midlife health care—a future that requires innovation, advocacy, and intergenerational cooperation.
We extend our thanks to Dr İpek Betül Özçivit Erkan, dual WATOG and EMAS member, and Dr Eleni Armeni, EMAS Board Member, for facilitating this milestone partnership.
Together, EMAS and WATOG will work to advance comprehensive, equitable, and evidence-based care for women worldwide—now and in the years to come.
