Margaret Rees, EMAS executive director, receives accolade from The Open University

EMAS Executive Director Professor Margaret Rees received an honorary doctorate from The Open University (OU) in recognition of her outstanding contributions to women’s health and research ethics. With a distinguished career in women’s reproductive and post-reproductive health, Professor Rees has authored over 20 textbooks, several of which have earned awards from the British Medical Association. Having served on the OU’s Human Research Ethics Committee for over a decade, her expertise has significantly shaped the committee’s policies, guidance, and training materials, influencing the trajectory of research undertaken by OU scholars. Professor Rees expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am still overwhelmed by this acknowledgment from the OU of my contribution to women’s health and research ethics.”
