Founded in 1998, the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS) is one of the leading international medical society dedicated to advancing midlife and post-reproductive health. We foster excellence among healthcare professionals and researchers through our journals, congresses, clinical guidelines, courses, webinars, podcasts, and awareness initiatives.
Our mission is to promote health and well-being for individuals in midlife and beyond. With a strong scientific foundation and a global network of over 40 affiliated societies, EMAS provides consistent, high-quality, and evidence-based education on key areas such as menopause, hormone therapy, osteoporosis, cardiovascular health, mental health, and healthy aging.
As populations age and healthcare systems adapt, EMAS recognises the critical importance of accessible, inclusive, and up-to-date education. We curate and disseminate the latest scientific research patient information, and clinical resources to empower healthcare providers and improve care worldwide.Â
EMAS also invests in the future of the field by supporting early-career professionals through mentorship programmes, grants, and international collaboration — ensuring lasting impact in Europe and beyond.

EMAS Patron
Angela Maas is a cardiologist since 1988. Over the past 25 years she has specialized in heart disease in women.
Since May 2012 she holds a chair in ‘Cardiology for Women’ at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The main focus of her work are cardiac symptoms in women at middle-age and the role of female-specific risk factors in (early) heart disease.
In the past years she started an expert center for microvascular coronary disease at the Radboudumc. In 2015 she initiated the Dutch SCAD registry (coronary dissections) and she is now developing the theme cardio-oncology for women treated for breast cancer (2016).
She enjoys working with other disciplines such as gynecologists, oncologists, epidemiologists, other vascular disciplines and primary care.
Her aim is to widely implement a more gender sensitive cardiology care and to make the cardiology world friendlier for women.
She is listed since 2011 as one of the most powerful women in Dutch healthcare.
